As we face each other across the table
You in you clothes of success
I in my rags bought with the royalty of a fable.

Memories of similar situations
Come with a flush of event
As both of us try to remember
How destiny had had us sent.

You smile your winning smile again
And try and look me in the eye
I fidget and turn my gaze away
And I cannot look at you, no matter how hard I try.

Impatience has made it's presence felt
As you open your mouth to speak
We both know it's not the how it used to be
Our bond had become so weak.

Time stretched out as it never had
Where time was never enough
Both had words but no intent
To say them loud enough.

When you cannot forgive yourself...

There are times when you start to wonder what made you take the steps you took, which you should not have taken. You then try to reason it out and make yourself believe that whatever you did was something that happened all the time.... Mistakes do happen all the  time, don't they? Who knows what they are made of Those moments that stretch into days. Those scenes that comprehend color Those bright blues and purples and grays. I don't think they are made of silver I don't think they are made of gold Their texture- so true yet untouchable Better than the best stories told. So innocent those unbridled seconds That end up in sensuous flight Yet constant as change would have it To not miss a battle or fight. A world solely one of a kind My escape from worldly plights. Sensless

Give me a room in darkness, and a cloth to cover my head Pour wax into my ears, but don't mistake me for dead. Clear the wall of pictures, of colors of blue, of yellow, of red Take away all the words I've heard and all the words I've said. Cover the windows in black, stuff up the crack's in the door Make good use of the rugs so that light does not reflect off the floor. Shut out the noise from outside, the sound of the breeze makes me sore Take away the brass and the gold plate and that painting I bought from that store. Don't let anyone come near me, or call out my name Lock the door on the outside, put bars across it's frame.
